Composite Piping System
One of India's largest and leading manufacturer of quality uPVC Pipes, SWR Pipes & Fittings, HDPE Pipes brings to you Composite Piping Systems. Composite Piping System is manufactured from high grade Virgin Polyethylene and Aluminium.

The Polymer is effectively bonded in the inside and outside of the Aluminium core by melt adhesive. This Aluminium Core is 100% leak proof for both liquids and gases making it an ideal pipe for transporting gases and liquids.
Concept of Kisan Composite Pipe
Kisan Composite Pipe is an aluminium and polyethylene composite that combines the best features of both materials to form a pipe that is light, strong and does not support corrosion. By combining the two materials, Kisan Composite pipe avoids the unaccepted thermal expansion and deformation of plastic pipe. At the same time it retains the flexibility, frost resistance and ease of use associated with plastic.
Role of PE Layers - PE layers of composite pipe provide all the advantages of plastic pipes such as
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Chemically inert
  • Smooth surface for better flow properties.

Role of Adhesive Layers - The tie layers have the following functions
  • To perfectly bond the metal and plastic
  • To absorb eventual shifting movements between the plastic and the metal, likely to occur in opposite directions
  • To give the Composite pipe the advantages of a single component pipe

Role of Aluminium Pipe - In addition to all the inherent advantages of plastic pipes the inclusion of the metallic pipe gives Composite pipe the qualities of metal, namely
  • Absolute tightness
  • Mechanical resistance to deformation
  • Dilation within reasonable limits
Physical Properties
Malleable : The unique feature of Kisan Composite Pipe is it’s malleability. Kisan Composite Pipe is easily formed into curves, sets by hand and only requires bending springs when forming tight bends down to radius equivalent to 5 times the diameter of pipe. Unlike plastic plumbing pipes, Kisan Composite Pipe permanently holds whatever shape it is formed into and does not need additional clips or brackets to retain the shape of bends or curves.
Kisan Composite Pipe piping systems don’t corrode. Will never pit or develop pin holes from aggressive water leading to premature failure.
No scale build up to reduce flow. Soluble encrustants, such as calcium carbonate do not readily precipitate onto the smooth walls of Kisan Composite Pipe. In addition there are no reduction in flow areas and flow coefficients as the pipes age.
Flame/Smoke Rating : Kisan Composite Pipe has a Flame Spread of 5 and a Smoke Development of 5 as per ULC-S102.2. The ratings meet most building code requirements allowing for the use of Kisan Composite Pipe in high-rise construction as well as in return air plenums and vertical shafts.
Permeation : Kisan Composite Pipe’s aluminum core acts as a permeation barrier against entry of contaminants, and limits oxygen permeation to virtually zero. Permeation is the molecular transport of chemicals, from the soil surrounding the pipe, through the pipe wall and into the fluid being carried within. Permeation may have adverse effects on the piping system, the conveyed fluid or both. Kisan Composite Pipe is widely used for the transmission and distribution of potable water providing a second line of defense for the plumbing system.
UV Resistance and opacity : Kisan Composite Pipe do not have any effect of UV radiation when laid exposed. There is no light transmission.
Flow Properties
Higher flow Because of smooth inside surface Kisan Composite Pipe is furr & scale free and gives higher and consistent flow throughout the service life. Friction drop properties for Kisan Composite Pipes are represented by following graph.
In case of Kisan Composite Pipe fittings, the equivalent length for various fittings is as given in the following table. For calculating the friction drop, add the eqivalent length for highest size of fitting to the length of the pipe. Find out the friction drop from graph.

Chlorine Resistance Kisan Composite Pipe has much better resistance to chlorine attack than other non-composite pipes because of the aluminum middle layer. The outer layer is not exposed to chlorine therefore there is no method for chlorine attack on the outer layer. Kisan Composite Pipes are an excellent choice for continuous re-circulation plumbing applications.
Kisan chemical fittings can be used with Kisan Composite Pipe for chemical handling.

Installation
It is bendable but does not spring back, is not prone to deformation under pressure & can be directly installed up to 200 mtrs. It Decreases the need for a lot of fittings, is easy to use & saves a lot of Installation time.
Method of Joining
Cut the pipe according to the required length & place the screw of the nut & ‘O' ring

on the pipe.
Bevel the cut end with the rimming tool.
Insert fitting into the pipe completely in such a way that the cut end of the pipe touches

the base of the fitting. Move the ‘O’ ring over the pipe to touch the body of the fitting.
Screw the nut to the fitting. The fittings should be tightened perfectly to avoid leakages.
Fittings
Where Kisan Composite Pipe is surface mounted, maximum support centers on straight runs should be 2.5 meters for Horizontal lines as well as Vertical lines. However, shorter support centers may be necessary in case the allowable sag is to be minimized.

Always support the fittings at all the joints.

Use proper clamps, preferably Kisan clamps, for supports.

Don't tighten the clamps too tight to avoid deformation of pipe section.

Don't use sharp objects such as nails and steel wires for holding the pipe.
Concealed Installation
Cement tacking is the best method to keep the Kisan Composite pipe in place before concealing.

Always tack the pipe at all the joints.

Don't use sharp objects such as nails and steel wires for holding the pipe.
Male Threaded Fittings
Male threaded fittings are having BSP male threads for connection with BSP female threaded fittings.
Do's Don'ts
  • Always use teflon tape for sealing purpose.
  • Use proper spanner for tightening of Male thread connector.
  • Ensure that the thread matching is perfect. Improper thread matching may lead to damaging of threads.
  • While connecting, do not apply any sealing agent, such as 'hold tight', which has chemical bonding with metal. This may lead to failure of male threaded fitting while removing the plumbing accessory from fitting.
Female Threaded Fittings
Female threaded fittings are having BSP female threads for connection with BSP male threaded fittings.
Do's Don'ts
  • Always use tap seal. Insert the seal as shown in the figure inside the female threaded end and tighten the plumbing accessories over it.
  • Teflon tape may be used for sealing purpose.
  • While connecting, do not apply any sealing agent, such as 'hold tight', which has chemical bonding with metal. This may lead to failure of female threaded fitting while removing the plumbing accessory from fitting.
Testing of Kisan Composite Piping System
Do's Don'ts
  • Always use Kisan test plug for plugging the female threaded open ends.
  • Hand tighten the test plug inside the female threaded fitting. The seal of test plug will ensure sealing of the end.
  • After testing, test plugs should be replaced by plastic threaded plugs.
  • Follow the test procedure as given below.
  • Never use GI/MS threaded plugs. Over tightening of these plugs for achieving sealing at high pressures may weaken or damage the fitting.
  • GI/MS plugs should not be used for normal plugging also. Corrosion of these plugs over a period may lead to weakening of fittings during removal.
Test Procedure
  • The whole installation should be tested hydraulically on completion by subjecting all supply and distributing pipes, fittings and connections to appliances, to an internal test pressure of 1.5 times the maximum operating pressure for the installation or the relevant part.
  • The whole of the system is subjected internally to the test pressure which is maintained by pumping for 30 minutes, after which the test continues without further pumping.
  • The pressure in the system is carefully reduced to one third of the test pressure.
  • The pressure does not drop over the following 90 minutes and there is no visible leakage.
